New Work

Artist Statement

In my work, I examine autobiographical experience as I see in the eyes of immigrant women. I am inspired by life changing moments in the emotional and psychological lives of these women. My artistic goal is to create contemporary magic realist paintings that represent women, specifically those who experience transition, adaptation, and self-knowledge underlying memories of trauma and old identity. My work investigates visual metaphors of women that can develop a meaningful interconnection between individual and society. I hope to build a bridge between art history and social history that will make visible women who were otherwise invisible in the past.

A selection of these recent paintings were exhibited as part of International Women’s Day, an exhibition at Christina Parker Gallery from March 8 to March 30, 2024.
